Bob DeRose created custom modifications and accessories for cinema equipment and Steadicam rigs starting in the 1970s, including low-mode brackets, camera plates, wrap grips, arm posts, and various other components that became industry standard solutions.
Bob modified Steadicam Model 1 by adjusting the sled angle for better monitor visibility and offsetting the battery placement to improve balance.
Bob modified Steadicam Model 2 by removing the second post, running wiring down the centerpost, and enabling dynamic balance capability.
Bob retrofitted Model 3 Steadicams with down-the-post wiring, a telescoping centerpost, and an underslung junction box that allowed fore-and-aft adjustment for dynamic balance.
The original D-Box 1 (Donkey Box) was designed for the Steadicam 3A in 1992 to replace an unpopular top stage, and Bob based his camera plates on the 3A design.
