- Vimeo supports multiple playback formats including Flash, HTML5, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices without requiring platform-specific workarounds.
- Vimeo does not add watermarks to embedded videos, only displaying its logo in the player controls, making it suitable for professional portfolios.
- Embedded Vimeo videos can be customized in size and player control colors to match website design requirements.
- Vimeo-hosted videos load quickly and play smoothly without buffering pauses when embedded on websites.
- Hosting video on external services like Vimeo is preferable to embedding video files directly on a website server because direct embedding causes slow load times and quality issues.
- Quicktime video files embedded directly on websites had compatibility problems across different systems and players as of 2011.
