Cinema Products

Original manufacturer of the Steadicam®. Garrett Brown experimented in 1969 and 1970, the first prototype "Brown's Stabilizer" was built in 1973; commercial marketing by Cinema Products began in 1976. Next came the Universal Model I (1977), the Model II with a rotatable monitor for low mode, and the Model III (1983), which was regarded as state of the art for years. During its first five years of production the company was involved in legal disputes with competing stabilizers, including Panavision's Panaglide and Russian and Japanese prototypes. The Steadicam® brand went to Tiffen in 2000.
