Hi everyone,I’m posting here because I’m trying to find out if anyone else has experienced the same issue with their Trinity 2 system.Since day 1, I’ve had a problem where I cannot make a smooth tilt and roll movement at the same time without the roll being affected or drifting slightly. A good example is doing a tilt up while rolling around 45° simultaneously. The movement never feels completely fluid.I’ve spoken with other Trinity operators in my network, and so far nobody seems to have the same issue.Back in 2024, I sent my rig to ARRI/Harry for inspection and adjustment. Unfortunately, they were not able to resolve the problem at the time and told me we would need to wait for a new Frame Update / SUP 4.0 to see if the issue could be fixed through software or firmware updates.I now have the latest SUP 4 installed, but I’m still experiencing the exact same problem. One thing I noticed is that I can partially bypass the tilt/roll issue if I enable Follow Mode, then everything behaves much more normally. But in standard operation, the drift/shift problem is still there. In addition to this, I’m now having a serious issue with my MGT-2 Remote Control setup on the T2.Every time I power up and connect the cable from the MGT-2 Remote Control to the Remote Head Unity 2 through LBUS, I immediately get uncontrollable pan and roll drift. The system becomes impossible to calibrate properly. What’s strange is that as soon as I disconnect the LBUS cable, the head immediately goes back to normal. Everything works perfectly again and all functions operate correctly. I also tested with another original ARRI LBUS cable and got exactly the same result.I’ve also tried reaching out multiple times FOMA SYSTEMS regarding bugs and technical support, but honestly it feels like talking to a ghost lately no answers, no follow-up.So I wanted to ask the community directly… Any feedback or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.Miguel

Based on currently available information, over the past weeks ARRI has undergone internal restructuring, including the dismissal of the entire CSS team (except the service in Munich). At the same time, the existing contractual relationship between ARRI and FoMa Systems is scheduled to end on 31 December 2025.While external communication may suggest continuity, the reality for many Trinity and Artemis users is that the future support structure, development roadmap, and long-term ecosystem are currently unclear. As operators, we now have to reassess expectations and plan ahead, especially where investments go beyond the base systems. For colleagues who made additional investments, such as the Trinity Pan Module, the situation is more critical. Given that the required software has been recalled and no supporting software has been released since, affected users should seriously consider reviewing their legal and warranty options individually. The following post is intended to provide factual information and possible options, not legal advice and not a statement against any manufacturer.Legal context – updated information based on the software timeline (EU & US)The following information is provided for general orientation only.It does not constitute legal advice and does not replace consultation with a qualified lawyer. Each case depends on individual circumstances, contracts, and applicable local law.⸻Why the timeline matters legallyBased on the currently known timeline:• SUP 3.0 was released in September 2024• Issues affecting the Trinity 2 were reported shortly after release• ARRI and FO MA were aware of these issues over an extended period• Multiple bug-fix attempts were made over several months• In July 2025, ARRI officially recalled the software• Since that recall, no official firmware exists that supports the Pan ModuleThis sequence is relevant because it indicates that:• the issue is not temporary or incidental• extended attempts at correction did not result in a functional solution• there is currently no defined timeframe for restoring functionalityIn many legal systems, this may be interpreted as a failure of remedial action.⸻Core legal principle (general)Where hardware requires specific software to perform its intended and advertised function, hardware and software are generally treated as a single functional product. If required software is:• withdrawn or recalled,• unavailable for an extended period,• and not replaced by an official alternative, the product may be considered non-conforming or defective, even if the hardware itself remains physically intact.⸻Possible legal options (overview)Depending on jurisdiction and individual contracts, affected users may wish to review the following options:1. Request for functional completion (repair / cure)Users may request:• officially released, working software restoring the intended functionality, or• an equivalent technical solution.Where repeated attempts have failed and no release timeline exists, continued waiting may no longer be considered reasonable.⸻2. ReplacementIf functional completion is not feasible, users may evaluate whether:• a replacement solution offering the promised functionality is available or required.⸻3. Refund or contract rescissionWhere neither repair nor replacement is provided within a reasonable timeframe, users may be entitled to:• a full refund, or• cancellation of the purchase contract with return of the product. This option becomes particularly relevant when a product has remained unusable for its intended purpose over an extended period.⸻4. Price reduction (partial refund)If users decide to retain the hardware despite missing functionality, they may consider:• a partial refund reflecting the reduced or absent usability.⸻5. Warranty and statutory rightsMost buyers are protected by:• statutory warranty rights,• and, where applicable, manufacturer warranties. These rights typically apply independently of future development plans or roadmap statements.⸻United States – additional noteFor US-based users, warranty law may provide broader enforcement mechanisms, particularly where:• a product’s core functionality has never been delivered in usable form, or• software withdrawal effectively prevents the product from being used as intended. In such cases, coordinated warranty claims may be considered. This does not imply litigation is required, but professional legal advice may help clarify available options.⸻Why reviewing options now is reasonableGiven:• long-standing awareness of the issue,• repeated unsuccessful remediation attempts,• the official software recall,• and the absence of a supported firmware since, operators who made additional investments, such as the Trinity Pan Module, may reasonably reassess whether continued waiting is appropriate or whether warranty and contractual options should be reviewed.⸻Role of the CSS-ForumThe CSS-Forum:• provides a neutral platform for factual information,• enables voluntary, private exchange between affected users,• but does not provide legal advice or represent users toward manufacturers. Each user decides independently how to proceed.

Where to begin. I\'ll start with my 1 year old trinity 2 and pan axis module and operating console sitting in the Cologne Bonn Airport currently as I write this based on my Air Tag. This includes my Artemis 2. The whole system was purchased in July of 2024 by me and only me from ARRI directly through Tyler Rocheleau. I had him come to my home town to train me on the system in August 2024 for 6k. I am a steadicam and operator veteran of 17 years. Why is my system at the airport you may ask? It doesn\'t work. Never has since the date of possession. Here is $152,000.00 year long story.Tyler shows up in Wilmington NC my home town as I am prepping for a series on NETFLIX as A cam/steadi op. My pan axis module is not available so Tyler brings his head and pan axis module. While going through the training the system behaved inconsistently. There were a number of times that Tyler wrote some things a down that puzzled him. I forged through even though I was very concerned at the readiness of the system. My pan axis was not delivered until October. We were 2 months into the shoot and our lead DP chose our B cam operator\'s RONIN as a stabilized head for us. I let it go because I had no choice. When I was able to build my intact system to showcase to our DP to make a change it did not work. The pan axis was shipped directly from Germany to me without going through QC in NY. It had miss matching firmware. So you can imagine how embarrassing it was to come of set between setups to show the DP and nothing happened. I shelve the system until January. No time to trouble shoot. The show is a bear. Finish job with RONIN no rental.January I do a deep dive into the system at home as production stops everywhere. I really get a feel for the RCP and building different user groups and generally getting acquainted with the system and getting the head to respond well to my inputs on the wheels. Throughout this time I really see how clunky the RCP touch screen interface is. Problems processing my commands. Taking the adjusted values in motor power etc. and PID values. A bit of a mind of its own. This is when I am hearing from ARRI the beginnings of do a firmware update. I decide to invest more money in my training and I fly to Burbank and train an additional 2 days with Tyler and 2 other trinity ops at ARRI Burbank. Nice building by the way they have spent our money well FYI. Neither of the operators training me had this version of the trinity or pan axis module. This is where I really started to feel like a guinea pig. Concerning. In those 2 days we discovered there was no 12v service coming out of pan axis module and no video signal. Two critical things. I had a DP come from her home to Burbank to show the pan axis module capabilities but when she arrived I could show no image due to those two flaws. 2nd failure. Just overall lack of support there at Burbank was astonishing. Tyler excluded. But the building looked nice.Returned home not really developing a comfort level with the system but more so growing concerns of my investment. For me I bought the TRINITY 2 system more for the pan axis and future proofing my operating career. Many people state side have been getting jobs or not getting jobs because they do or do not have the system. It was time for me to remain relevant. In doing so if I can have a compact 3 axis stabilized head for more money invested why not?! In my position as the lead operator it was time to boot the RONIN to the side finally. HATE IT. The sky is the limit with this thing. I have a steadicam, TRINITY, gimbal and head all in one.Continue testing and learning the system in the spring. I get an opportunity to utilize the TRINITY on set in 3 modes. TRINITY, gimbal and 3 axis stabilized head. It performs fine in those 3 instances although still not getting video signal out of pan axis or 12v service. I created a work around that. It was a 2 day free shoot for a colleague of mine pushing his directing career. The system really didn\'t get a full fleshing out for me in those 2 days but I saw some positive things happening. At that point I contacted Tyler about getting the pan axis in to be looked at the issues I was having and the RCP and just an overall go through from top to bottom as the system continued to work but not streamlined enough to be an affective tool on set. Tyler informs me he is leaving ARRI. Crickets in Burbank. This is June and I am hearing of a pilot coming to town. DP Oliver Bokelberg ASC hires me for the pilot as A cam/steadi op. He wants to audition the system. I show him the TRINITY at the hair makeup wardrobe test. In that mode it is fine. At lunch I take my time and convert it to remote head mode underslung. When I power it up it spins wildly and nearly takes off my finger and injures my 2nd assistant\'s hand. Needless to say for the pilot Oliver went with my B cam ops 8 year old RONIN that over the course of its life time has only had 2 firm ware updates. Let that sink in, two. I have lost another rental. I contact ARRI (GLENN KENNEL) and he declines any type of creative buy back solution and instructs me to ship everything to ARRI NY where it will be fixed by David Fuentes. I knew in other conversations that I have had with David that my system needed to go to Germany. Glenn fought me on it. I lost. Fought me on shipping costs as well. Great customer support ARRI. I finally win that battle and he agreed to pick up shipping costs to NY. My system spent part of August and all of september in NY where David was able to replicate issues. David gets laid off Alex Voigt gets involved from FOMA and currently my gear is sitting in the airport in Germany. In that time I have secured a feature with my back up PRO sled until Thanksgiving. The DP inquired about my TRINITY 2 system and I said sadly has been down since July. Currently overseas. Oliver comes back to town. My pilot is picked up and it starts the week after thanksgiving and runs into April 2026. He wants to use my system. He asked if it had been fixed. I said no. He was truly floored. So once again I can\'t get any return on it as it sits currently in the airport in Germany unguarded I\'m sure. 5 black cases. I was supposed to receive tracking numbers more than a week ago from ARRI They never arrived.I told Alex through zoom a couple weeks ago when they get done going through everything I want Tyler on set with me for at least 3 days standing behind the product he and ARRI sold me.I could write more. So much more. Please reach out. We need a group call with all of us affected by this so that we can salvage our careers.Sad. Truly have zero faith in the system. Still owe $103,000.00 on a paper weight. WOW. And for good measure I get to use my B ops RONIN on a 5 month series starting 4 days before thanksgiving and running into APRIL 2026. Thanks ARRI. Thanks FoMa. I can\'t even sell my system in good conscience in the market. I wouldn\'t wish this on my most fiercest competitor.I NEED ARRI TO RESPOND TO ME. I NEED FOMA TO RESPOND TO ME.I HAVE LOST 4 OPPORTUNIES TO REGAIN MY LOSS.

Yesterday we tested the much-promised SUP 4.0 for the TRINITY 2, and what can I say: it was a disappointment. Fundamental issues that have been known for over a year are still not fixed – for example, the 360°-to-0° movement still doesn’t run smoothly. The overcurrent protection is still completely missing, and has actually become more dangerous. After your finger is broke, the system now slowly continues to crush the finger with full force. The maximum 360° speed is still too slow – especially when accelerating and braking. We are far away from the roughly 0.8 seconds of SUP 1.5.At least the power issue with the ALEXA 35 has finally been resolved. But still, the entire software feels more like a beta version than a stable, production-ready release. Its behavior is overloaded and sluggish, probably because FoMa now uses a shared software base for all products. That might be practical and cost-effective for the developer, but for us operators it’s clearly a step backward, since we’re carrying a piece of software that actually makes our system worse.Yesterday we compared my TRINITY running SUP 1.5 directly with the current version – and the difference is massive. The motor behavior has completely changed, which leads to:– Omega mode no longer working properly,– the classic “look-around-the-corner” move no longer being possible because the head suddenly loses orientation,– and even follow mode no longer operating cleanly. And these are exactly the core functions that define the TRINITY 2 – and they worked perfectly on SUP 1.5.So my clear recommendation:If you can, absolutely do the remote downgrade back to SUP 1.5.Personally, I no longer believe that we’ll see a truly stable version in the near future. What disappoints me even more than the technical condition is FoMa’s behavior itself. Once again – just like the whole year already – they tried to play down the problems and present them as isolated cases among individual operators, myself included. Honestly, I find that disrespectful to everyone who works professionally with the TRINITY 2.By now, I really have the feeling that we TRINITY operators are no longer a priority for FoMa.So my request at this point:Rainer Maertin @fomasystems , please give us an official statement - and don’t forget: no statement is also a statement! What’s next for the TRINITY 2?What exactly is your part, and what lies with ARRI?And can we still hope for a dedicated TRINITY software at all?Because by now, one thing should be clear to everyone:The “one-software-for-all” approach simply doesn’t work for the TRINITY 2.Let’s hope the next “final” version won’t feel like another beta test in disguise.Best,Leon

Hello everyone,I’m new to this forum and recently purchased the ARRI Trinity 2. Unfortunately, I’ve been extremely disappointed to discover a major issue during my very first shoot. In certain situations, the head completely shuts off power to the camera (in this case, an ALEXA 35). The most common scenario is when the head is even slightly touched — as shown in this video — which immediately powers the camera down and forces me to restart the entire system. It’s honestly frustrating to experience such a serious glitch in such an expensive and professional system. I understand that bugs can happen and aren’t always easy to detect, but what’s really disappointing is knowing that this issue has existed for quite some time, and yet no new firmware has been released to address it.

Dear Trinity 2 owners and operators. We are working a new updated version of the SAM-6 dovetail plate. The new “SAM-6 N” will lift the ARRI 35 into a perfect nodal position. With the “SAM-6 N” you can produce perfect 360 rotations, with out any wobble. The “SAM-6 N” will be 350 mm long. To arrange the first production lot, we would need to know how many of you are interested in such nodal “SAM-6 N”?Please let me know. Cheers Curt

„Post moved to ARRI CSS group by admin„Have TRINITY 2 complete system with pan axis and wheels set. Since delivery in September 24 of the Trinity 2 and then October for pan axis I have had challenges with the system operating on a consistent basis. It culminated a month ago with it in remote head configuration taking off in an extremely fast endless pan taking the main cable past its recommended rotation before I could pull regulated power and physically stop the head at high speed. I have had miss matched firmware from factory. Latency with RCP screen interface. Head not responding after powering up. RCP and Trinity head not connecting. Not getting a video signal or 12v power out of the pan axis junction. Has anyone experienced these issues?

To all TRINITY 2 operators. I consistently strive to achieve the most optimal outcomes from ideas and products for your daily and, ideally, creative work with the TRINITY 2 on set. This is also true for the TRINITY 2 software. The software is developed in collaboration with c-motion and FoMa by FoMa\'s programmers and must meets ARRI\'s specifications and requirements. Like you, ARRI CSS is essentially the client in this constellation. The number of T2 operators reporting issues with TRINITY 2 SUP 3.0.10 from September 2024 is increasing. Consequently, ARRI is required to make the following recommendation:TRINITY 2 SUP 3.0.10, which was released in September 2024, is not yet fully operational. A number of major bugs have been found in SUP 3.0.10, which could make the TRINITY 2 system on set much less reliable. Because of this, ARRI CSS strongly advises not installing SUP 3.0.10 until further notice. Some of these problems that were introduced with SUP 3.0.10 and higher may still exist even after downgrading to version \"TRINITY 2 SUP 1.5\" from November 2023.Because the update seems to make significant changes to the system, and downgrading cannot completely fix these changes.Unfortunately, there are also some beta and pre-release SUP versions in circulation. Please do not distribute these pre-release software versions to other operators. We at ARRI CSS are doing everything possible to analyze these issues precisely and to address them. At ARRI, we rely on the outcomes of FoMa\'s programmers because this can only be accomplished in collaboration with them. The goal of ARRI CSS is to quickly make a reliable and secure version of TRINITY 2 SUP accessible on the ARRI website. I sincerely hope you can relate and have faith that we will come up with a suitable solution.Yours Curt O. Schaller

Hi guys, a few days ago I installed the last update of TRINITY 2 SUP 3.0.10.I noticed several problems:1. When I turn on the trinity head it takes 15 seconds for the motors to start, and then it shakes in the tilt axis. Very often it happens that they don't even start, so I have to repeat the process. In TRINITY 2 SUP 1.5 I never had this kind of problem. I'll post a video so you can see what it looks like.2. When I program the tilt movement or press the home position when stopping the camera shakes in the tilt axis, a very big problem. I'll post a video so you can see what it looks like.3. If a cable or counterweight gets stuck during the roll, the camera shuts off at the same moment, that's a big problem on the set, the camera has to be raised, the camera has to be reloaded, they're waiting for you. In Trinity 2 SUP 1.5 I never had this problem.Arri and FoMaSystems, please solve these problems with a new firmware, because we are currently using a device that is really not reliable. @curt please also help us with Arri and FoMaSystems to solve these problems for us as soon as possible.Thank you

"This post was moved by an admin to the ARRI CSS group."Dear operators, Regarding the discussion about the gimbal, I would like to make the following statement:We prioritized the following aspects when developing the ARTEMIS gimbal for the ARTEMIS 2 and TRINITY2:• Ultra-low friction.• An exact and precise overlap of all axes in the absolute center of the gimbal.• A sophisticated overlapping design of moving parts is employed to achieve the highest possible level of dust and dirt protection. That being said, the gimbal can only work the way you want it to if it is serviced by authorized ARRI service technicians. The ARTEMIS gimbal does not require cleaning, as was the case with older gimbal designs from other manufacturers, as a result of its unique construction and the type of ball bearing utilized.Ultrafine sand or salt water are the only things that can stop the gimbal from moving smoothly. The bearing is unable to be restored to its original condition through cleaning in this instance.Salt water and sand irreversibly erode the running surfaces of ball bearings and the surfaces of the balls. In this case, the ball bearings must be replaced and the gimbal must be recalibrated by authorized ARRI service technicians. You should never try to open the gimbal yourself because you will permanently damage its function and, most importantly, its accuracy. In addition, the gimbal\'s smoothness may be compromised by a chemical reaction if you attempt to lubricate it yourself with any type of oil. Also, it can be made much harder and costlier for an authorized ARRI service technician to fix things later on.For any kind of gimbal modification, we advise getting in touch with an authorized ARRI service technician.Let\'s work together to solve the problem.

Hi everyoneI'm selling here my ARRI Wheels DRW-1 along with the Foma Systems ERM-2400 LCS kit and some cables, all packed in a Peli 1560 case. I have purchased everything in August 2022 directly from ARRI in order to use them with my TRINITY 2. This gives you the option to control the roll and the tilt axis externally by a another operator or the DP. I have used them so far only on a few occasions, hence they're in great condition. The wheels will also work with the SRH-360 EVO head when linked with the corresponding ERM kit.Setup contains:1 x Set of ARRI Wheels (2 axis control)1 x ERM-2400 LCS kit (TX, RX, 2 antennas and various cables), connectivity range of approx. 1000 m (3000 ft.)1 x CSS Mitchell Mount 1 x Peli 1560 hardcase with inlayI'm asking 11500 € EUR (if you're based in Germany +VAT), buyer pays for shipping and any occuring money transfer fees.Shoot me a message if you have any questions or want more detailed pictures.CheersOzzy

I got questions from few Trinity operators about the external power cable for Trinity 2 head, where I have purchased it and what is the code number. They cannot find it on Arri website.Any reason why was it taken off the Arri website, Trinity 2 cables page? The cable code is K2.0048481

Does anyone had a issues using Zoom with Trinity-Cforce plus motor-MGT 2 combinations?I recently trying to using zoom and tilt with Trinity 2 and MGT-2 but zoom doesn\'t work normally. I connect Cforce Plus motor to the LBUS port on Trinity 2 Head with LBUS cable. After Assign zoom(MGT J1 or MGT J2) and calibrate, I trying to using zoom but it behave unusal. When I push or pull Joystick of MGT-2, it is zoom 0 to max with Maxmium speed and as soon as I let Joystick go, zoom is return to 0. It never stop between zoom range. I cannot controll the speed and range, whatever I change the values on RCP-3. My Trinity 2, RCP-3 and MGT-2 are updated with latest version. I have to using zoom and tilt with MGT-2 for my next project. Thanks for many opinion and helpBest RegardsKim

Has anyone had any experience with Trinity 2 in freezing conditions?I have a job in the very north of Sweden, and although I\'m used to working in cold temperatures, I\'ve never had the Trinity 2 in what we expect will be around -20 °C (-4 °F). When I\'ve worked in those conditions before as camera operator we\'ve put heat pads on the batteries and have had tents with heat burners, so that will be a given, but some monitors can\'t handle that type of cold. I have the Transvideo Starlite and don\'t know how it will react. And for sure don\'t know how the Trinity 2 head will preform. Is there someone you can give me advice on this, on how to foresee the eventual conflicts?I\'d be grateful for your help!Sincerely,Niklas Beckman
