Hey guys, Yet again- i am having power issues with an Alexa 35 on the newest software. Flying 2 x 150w gold mount batteries. Half the time power cuts out of the blue. The other half, camera dies when something causes resistance to the motors: push-in rotation into a bed and we briefly hit the bed with the mattbox mid rotation (gently) or the tilt is at its limit in a shot and taps the trinity base–O assume this caused a short or overcurrent. It’s become embarrassing on set, and it’s my DPs personal camera and he is very concerned and it’s not making me look too good to him. Any thoughts?* I’m running the latest firmware before the pan axis version of firmware and I will not upgrade for obvious reasons.
Super 35 camera. Body weight 2.9 kg with lens mount, without further accessories.
What is mine worth?Yesterday we tested the much-promised SUP 4.0 for the TRINITY 2, and what can I say: it was a disappointment. Fundamental issues that have been known for over a year are still not fixed – for example, the 360°-to-0° movement still doesn’t run smoothly. The overcurrent protection is still completely missing, and has actually become more dangerous. After your finger is broke, the system now slowly continues to crush the finger with full force. The maximum 360° speed is still too slow – especially when accelerating and braking. We are far away from the roughly 0.8 seconds of SUP 1.5.At least the power issue with the ALEXA 35 has finally been resolved. But still, the entire software feels more like a beta version than a stable, production-ready release. Its behavior is overloaded and sluggish, probably because FoMa now uses a shared software base for all products. That might be practical and cost-effective for the developer, but for us operators it’s clearly a step backward, since we’re carrying a piece of software that actually makes our system worse.Yesterday we compared my TRINITY running SUP 1.5 directly with the current version – and the difference is massive. The motor behavior has completely changed, which leads to:– Omega mode no longer working properly,– the classic “look-around-the-corner” move no longer being possible because the head suddenly loses orientation,– and even follow mode no longer operating cleanly. And these are exactly the core functions that define the TRINITY 2 – and they worked perfectly on SUP 1.5.So my clear recommendation:If you can, absolutely do the remote downgrade back to SUP 1.5.Personally, I no longer believe that we’ll see a truly stable version in the near future. What disappoints me even more than the technical condition is FoMa’s behavior itself. Once again – just like the whole year already – they tried to play down the problems and present them as isolated cases among individual operators, myself included. Honestly, I find that disrespectful to everyone who works professionally with the TRINITY 2.By now, I really have the feeling that we TRINITY operators are no longer a priority for FoMa.So my request at this point:Rainer Maertin @fomasystems , please give us an official statement - and don’t forget: no statement is also a statement! What’s next for the TRINITY 2?What exactly is your part, and what lies with ARRI?And can we still hope for a dedicated TRINITY software at all?Because by now, one thing should be clear to everyone:The “one-software-for-all” approach simply doesn’t work for the TRINITY 2.Let’s hope the next “final” version won’t feel like another beta test in disguise.Best,Leon
Hello everyone,I’m new to this forum and recently purchased the ARRI Trinity 2. Unfortunately, I’ve been extremely disappointed to discover a major issue during my very first shoot. In certain situations, the head completely shuts off power to the camera (in this case, an ALEXA 35). The most common scenario is when the head is even slightly touched — as shown in this video — which immediately powers the camera down and forces me to restart the entire system. It’s honestly frustrating to experience such a serious glitch in such an expensive and professional system. I understand that bugs can happen and aren’t always easy to detect, but what’s really disappointing is knowing that this issue has existed for quite some time, and yet no new firmware has been released to address it.
For sale. Alexa 35 Universal Stabilizer Plate from APEX Cinema Gear. It was used just a couple of times almost brand new. Original price is 295 $. Selling price 225 $.
I recently realized that the T2 head is not nodal when using the Sam 2 and Sam 6 plate with mini LF and alexa 35. Is it the case with everyone or a i might be doing something wrong.
