- Shoulder mounts designed to look like weapons should be avoided in regions where such equipment may raise security concerns; alternatives include monopods or purpose-built camera supports that do not resemble firearms.
- Essential preparations for video production in Uganda include obtaining a Carnet document for equipment customs clearance, carrying multiple batteries and charging them whenever possible, securing reliable local fixers and drivers, and planning multiple contingencies for scheduling changes.
- Security precautions in populated areas should include keeping cameras and phones away from open vehicle windows to prevent theft, avoiding the display of expensive electronics in congested traffic, and maintaining constant visual control of all equipment.
- Practical items for extended field shooting in tropical conditions include protective headwear, baby wipes, antimalarial medication, and yellow fever vaccination.

- The advice about selling electronics was disputed, with one participant suggesting this approach may not be viable.
- The camera choice depends partly on unknown factors about the actual shooting conditions and schedule flexibility.
- Security and operational conditions specific to Jinja may differ from other regions in Uganda or East Africa.
