  • The Flyer's 15-pound weight rating appears conservative and rigs in the 15-pound range can operate reliably.
  • RedDrive storage devices can be mounted at the bottom of a Steadicam sled using handle bar mounts to improve weight distribution.
  • Pulling focus manually on a camera with a full-frame sensor at wide apertures is extremely difficult and requires skill beyond what automatic focus systems or assist features can provide.
  • The RED camera is a suitable weight and shape for Steadicam operation and most decent rigs can successfully fly it.
  • Taking a professional Steadicam workshop is recommended before selecting a rig, as it helps determine the best equipment for individual circumstances and budget.
  • Carbon fiber 15mm support rods were becoming available in lengths up to 24 inches.
  • Petroff modular matteboxes offer lightweight, tool-free construction with a two-stage 4x4 configuration weighing approximately 1.5 pounds.
  • A base Flyer with AB mounts was available for around 6000 dollars at the time.
  • Attaching a high-resolution external monitor is necessary for accurate focus pulling in low depth-of-field situations, with daylight-viewable HD monitors being significantly more expensive than standard HD monitors.
  • Having both Steadicam and handheld shoulder mount capabilities provides flexibility for different shot types and production situations.

Dépend de

  • The discussion occurred in 2007 regarding camera equipment specifications and pricing that are now outdated.
  • Specific weight claims for unreleased camera components and accessories were estimates rather than confirmed specifications.
  • The weight capacity discussion assumes the Flyer's stated 15-pound limit may be conservative but does not provide definitive overload specifications.
  • One suggestion to mount an electronic viewfinder as a head-mounted device was noted as a concept that had been tested and abandoned decades earlier due to disorientation issues.
