Displaying video from F55 camera on external monitors when using PSF output format
12 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The F55 camera's PSF video output format is not directly compatible with many external monitors and converters
- Cinetronic 1 and TVLogic monitors cannot display PSF signals above 30fps from the F55
- An HD to HD crossconverter can work around PSF compatibility issues
- Decimator 2 can convert PSF signals to HDMI output by enabling HDMI scaling through control panel software on Windows
- Transvideos monitors do not have PSF compatibility issues with the F55
- Downconverting PSF to SD via a Decimator is another possible workaround
- Once frame rate settings are changed on the F55, the camera becomes difficult to control without a Sony viewfinder or onboard monitor
Depends on
- Decimator 2 control panel software was only available for Windows during this discussion, though Mac compatibility was being developed
- External monitor compatibility varies significantly; some models simply do not support PSF signals
- Downconversion to SD may be necessary when other solutions are unavailable
- The F55 lacks a direct menu option to output standard 1080p format
