Flyer LE sled connector types and power distribution for accessories
17 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The top stage of the Flyer LE features a 3-pin FGG.0B.303 LEMO female connector for power and a BNC connector for video
- Standard new Flyer LE rigs include a power cable converting from 3-pin LEMO to 4-pin XLR, though conversion from 4-pin XLR alone is sometimes simpler
- The Flyer LE lacks power and video connections at the bottom of the post, which causes weight distribution problems and limits accessory placement
- Potential custom solution involves tapping into the monitor cable multi-core with an 8-pin PRO LEMO breakout box to provide video and power outputs on the lower spar while maintaining stock compatibility
- Operating RED cameras on a Flyer LE typically requires a remote follow focus unit and additional power cables to support video assist and wireless systems
Depends on
- No images of the connectors were provided to verify appearance
- The custom breakout box solution was still in development at the time of discussion and may not have been completed
- Upgrading to larger rigs was noted as an alternative but falls outside the budget considerations mentioned
