EXT-IN port on ARRI Trinity 2 head base: power distribution to head, accessories, and camera

Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found

  • The EXT-IN port on the Trinity 2 head base requires a 24 V power source to supply the head and accessories mounted above it.
  • Ports marked as 12 V continue to deliver 12 V output independently.
  • ARRI supplies a dedicated cable (BHM-2 to TRH-2) for external power; unregulated power sources and D-Tap connectors are explicitly not recommended.
  • One operator powers a Trinity 1 head during standby using a battery connected directly at the head, supplying 12–14 V to all downstream components.
  • Custom 24 V cables have been built by operators for running the head mounted on an arm.

Depends on

  • Correct cable type and voltage specification depend on the Trinity model (Trinity 1 vs. Trinity 2).
  • Unregulated power sources may not meet ARRI's electrical specifications.
