GPI PRO Gen III battery hanger features, adjustability, and comparison to alternatives
15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The Gen III battery hanger offers greater fore and aft battery travel compared to the PRO2 model, with approximately half an inch additional extension.
- A tracking groove in the fore and aft adjustment tube prevents battery rotation during positioning adjustments.
- Individual battery plates can be removed from the hanger for maintenance or reconfiguration.
- Batteries can be rotated 90 degrees within the tracking channel to position readouts in a preferred orientation.
- The hanger facilitates dynamic balance adjustment more easily than earlier PRO2 knob-based systems.
- At the time of the first production run, the hanger was priced at $4900 and did not include a lower junction box or jumper blocks, which cost extra.
Depends on
- The recorder and transmitter bracket design was still under development and had not yet been finalized to accommodate newer AB HCX battery styles.
- Pricing and availability information is from 2011 and likely outdated.
- Users report this as beneficial for extended drop times of 2.5 to 3 seconds, which may be specific operating conditions.
- No direct side-by-side performance comparison data was provided against competing hangers like the Steadyrig model.
