Compatibility of Sony V-mount plates with Alexa cameras
15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Sony V-mount plates designed for ENG cameras can be mounted on Alexa cameras because the V-mount base is identical, though V-mount must be ordered as a special accessory from camera rental.
- The Baer-Bel V-mount plate offers advantages over standard Alexa mounting solutions due to its lightweight construction at approximately 400 grams and ability to minimize vibration.
- An improved version of the Baer-Bel V-mount plate features an extended dovetail section of approximately 2.5 inches to better accommodate back-heavy camera configurations such as Alexa paired with Codex recorders.
- The Baer-Bel plate includes an adjustable pin mechanism that helps with camera balance and quick assembly.
Depends on
- The V-mount configuration is not a standard Alexa setup and requires special ordering.
- Pricing reported at 610 euros plus VAT may be considered expensive by some users.
- One user reported vibration issues when using a Sony mount with heavy camera configurations.
- Unclear whether the plate works with both Alexa and other professional cameras like Sony and Panasonic models.
- Weight specification mentioned in grams but not confirmed in ounces as requested by one inquirer.
