MK-V Nexus sled with inverted battery rack has loose connection between electronics and post after reassembly
What the thread found
- When an inverted battery rack connection becomes loose on a MK-V Nexus sled, it can be tightened using a rubber oil filter wrench which avoids marring the metal connector ring
- Cleaning threads with 99% alcohol may help resolve connection tightness issues
- Early V1 Nexus bases may require 1mm spacers on each side to have enough room for inverting the battery rack, while V2 and V3 versions have a slightly wider design to accommodate inversion
- Flying an inverted battery rack on a Nexus sled improves compliance of the sled as long as the camera's center of gravity remains over the center post, creating static and dynamic balance
Depends on
- The loose connection issue occurred after disassembly and reassembly, suggesting a reassembly-specific problem
- Vibration effects from the wiggle were not observed during actual flight but were considered a potential risk with slower drop times
- The spacer solution applies specifically to early V1 Nexus bases
- Blue threadlocker compound was mentioned as a possible solution but reported to wear off over time
