2013Monitors forum
Ultrabrite 2 monitor HD/SDI inputs stopped working mid-shoot while SD/composite inputs remained functional
13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- A monitor's HD/SDI inputs may stop recognizing video signals while still being detected during input scanning, even when the same monitor successfully displays video through composite inputs.
- Testing with multiple video sources and cables, including direct camera-to-monitor connections, can help isolate whether the failure is in the monitor's HD/SDI inputs or in upstream equipment.
- Down-converted SD video successfully displayed through composite inputs indicates the monitor's display and processing functions are intact, suggesting the problem is specific to the HD/SDI input stage.
Depends on
- The user did not test with a camera having native HD/SDI output, only with converted HDMI-to-SDI sources.
- The failure occurred suddenly mid-shoot without obvious physical cause and was never resolved in the thread.
- Only one monitor model was tested, so the issue may not generalize to other Ultrabrite 2 units or other monitor brands.
