Mounting wireless audio receivers on cinema cameras without dedicated side plates
19 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Wireless receivers can be mounted on camera top handles, though initial balance concerns may disappear with adjustment
- Industrial-strength velcro applied to the back of the camera with additional strapping provides secure mounting for receivers
- Custom angle brackets can be fabricated to attach receivers behind external monitors when side mounting points are unavailable
- Plastic adhesive-backed velcro strips from electronics retailers can secure receivers to flat areas on camera bodies, with receiver removal necessary only for tape changes
- Cable management and dressing of wires close to the camera helps prevent tangling and snagging during operation
Depends on
- Solutions described are specific to cameras without standard A/B mounting plates with side screw holes
- Velcro and rubber band mounting may introduce some play or shifting compared to rigid screw mounts
- Mounting receivers at the rear of the camera adds weight to the back of the rig, affecting balance during handheld operation
- Fabricating custom brackets requires additional modification work and angular adapters
- No universal click-in mount solution was identified that works with all camera and monitor configurations
