Disassembling the top stage and gimbal on an Archer 1 sled

What the thread found

  • The top stage separates from the post by working upward with various small allen keys and a phillips screwdriver, keeping track of which fasteners came from where.
  • After separating the stage from the post, there are 16 screws holding the dovetail locking mechanism that must be removed to access the electronics from above after taking off the top plate.
  • Before disconnecting cables from the gimbal electronics, taking photographs of the cable routing helps ensure correct reassembly.
  • Cables should be detached carefully after documenting their positions.
  • A gimbal swap involves removing fasteners in reverse order of assembly and tracking all hardware to avoid leftover parts during reassembly.

Depends on

  • The person sharing the experience explicitly stated they cannot guarantee this procedure will work identically for everyone.
  • The advice is specific to the Archer 1 model.
  • The procedure was completed successfully only by the individual reporting it.
