EFP base connector purpose and potential repurposing
16 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The D-sub connector on the bottom of the EFP was designed to connect to follow focus receiver systems like Seitz or WC 4 units via motorcable lemos connectors running up the post.
- The connector can be repurposed to carry power, video, and other signals like tally light feeds to external devices such as program monitors.
- Dynamic balancing of an EFP sled is possible through modifications including repositioning the battery bracket rearward using spacers, replacing the upper junction box, and adding secondary battery mounts.
- The pin configuration of the base connector has been documented in CP manuals for the Steadicam 3 junction box wiring.
Depends on
- No detailed pin assignments were provided in this thread discussion.
- The specific wiring diagram details mentioned were referenced but not included in the thread text.
- Modifications described were performed on individual rigs and results may vary depending on setup and implementation.
