2012Batteries/Power forum
Alexa PRO 2 camera not accepting power from sled via 2-pin connector while batteries work directly on camera body.
14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The camera menu allows separate minimum voltage threshold settings for the battery plate and the 2-pin power input, which can prevent power acceptance if set too high.
- Power cables designed for film cameras may not be compatible with the Alexa camera's 2-pin power connector.
- The Alexa accepts input voltages from 10.5 to 34.0 volts DC on any power input, with 14.4V, 24V, and 26V batteries generally working well if they can supply at least 100W.
- Two fully charged battery bricks in series can exceed the maximum 34V input limit if each brick is over 17V when freshly charged, causing the camera to reject power.
- 12V batteries are not recommended for the Alexa as they quickly discharge below the minimum 10.5V operating threshold.
Depends on
- The original issue reported in the thread was never fully resolved with testing.
- Participants note uncertainty about whether certain power input mode selections were accurate for the camera model.
- No final confirmation was provided on which specific factor caused the original problem.
