Older model Steadicam arms in the lower price range can serve as a reasonable entry point for operators with limited budgets.
Steadicam arm springs were painted in different colors to indicate their weight capacity ranges.
An arm with a non-standard socket block will not be compatible with SK2 rigs without modification to a standard socket block.
The spring color coding system used by Cinema Products included red for 18-38 lbs, green for 20-40 lbs, blue for 25-45 lbs, black for 30-51 lbs, and gold for 36-58 lbs, with the colors applied as paint rather than material composition.
