Adding a battery mounting plate to the front of a Pro 1 Lite base
13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- A battery plate can be mounted to the front of a Pro 1 Lite base by using a post clamp on the existing battery post and attaching a plate to it.
- The modification can be accomplished by creating a spacer to adapt a 1.5 inch clamp to fit the 1.25 inch grey battery post, then mounting a monitor arm clamp with a battery plate attached.
- A center hub adapter exists that replaces the end cap on a Pro Lite base without destructive modification, allowing a battery plate to be added while integrating into the sled's power system.
- Electrical connection for the front battery can be made using a P-Tap to P-Tap cable running from the front plate to a rear location, allowing the batteries to work in parallel.
- The modification can cost under six hundred dollars and take approximately fifteen minutes to complete with basic tools like a hand drill.
Depends on
- No commercially available pre-made adapter part for this modification was confirmed to still be in production at the time of discussion.
- The specific wiring approach depends on whether the sled will use one, two, or three batteries and what power distribution method is preferred.
- The Pro 1 Lite base design dates to the mid-1990s, limiting availability of compatible original parts.
- The monitor arm clamp approach requires drilling into the battery plate to secure it to the clamp.
