Attaching an LCD monitor with 1/4-20 threaded hole to a PRO monitor arm

19 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • Several mounting solutions exist for attaching a non-PRO LCD monitor to a PRO monitor arm: Transvideo makes a dedicated bracket for this purpose but availability can be limited
  • A custom aluminum adapter block can be machined with a 1/4 hole for the monitor and fins designed to fit over the end of the PRO arm mount
  • A ball and socket mount with 1/4-20 threading can be used as an adapter by running a bolt through it and securing to the PRO arm mount's center pivot point where a loosening screw exists
  • Some manufacturers like MK-V may provide PRO spigot adapters for third-party monitors

Depends on

  • Transvideo brackets may have long lead times and require ordering from the UK
  • Custom machining solution requires access to a machinist and understanding the exact dimensions of the PRO arm mount
  • Ball and socket workaround was untested at the time of posting and described as a rigged solution
