Eliminating spring noise from a Steadicam® Aero 30 arm during boom movements.
What the thread found
- A spring end can slip out of position on its mounting rod; pushing the spring back to centre eliminated the noise on an Aero 30 arm.
- Apply a minimal amount of oil—dry lubricant or very fine oil—to the spring ends using a toothpick.
- Inspect the lift and load adjustment screws for wear or disengagement from their guides, as both conditions produce loud noise; spring holders that are too tight or too loose also generate noise.
- Consult the manufacturer before applying lubricant.
- Budget-level arms are prone to squeaking by design.
Depends on
- Arm model and age.
- Severity of wear on adjustment screws and spring holders.
