Using SD monitoring output with Canon C300 and Nanoflash HD recording setup
14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The Canon C300 provides an SD video output through its SYNC OUT BNC port, accessible via camera settings
- The Nanoflash does not have the capability to downconvert HD signals to SD format
- The C300's SD output via SYNC OUT operates at specific NTSC frame rates
- When shooting at 23.976fps rather than 24p, the C300's SD output downconverter option becomes available for SD monitoring
- For projects not requiring theatrical projection, 23.98fps is the appropriate standard frame rate choice
Depends on
- The SD output through SYNC OUT does not support all frame rate options, particularly standard 24p
- The thread does not clarify whether the SYNC OUT downconversion works simultaneously with HD recording to the Nanoflash
- Discussion references manual documentation without full technical specifications being shown in the thread
