Low-mode monitor mounting solutions on a Volt Sled with M2-Top-Stage
What the thread found
- Option 1 mounts a short rod with internal threads at the Tiffen rod insertion points (or shorten the Tiffen rods), then attaches an ARRI-standard monitor holder (SmallRig 2174) and a 5-inch monitor as flat as possible, trading adjustability for compactness and preserving clearance for front-end LEMO connectors; cable clips on the M2-Top-Stage assist cable management.
- Option 2 mounts the monitor holder directly to the Volt control box, eliminating vibration transmission to the monitor; however, any attachment to the Volt control unit risks introducing vibration and degrading stabilizer performance, so ideally nothing should hang from it.
- Compact, lightweight monitors recommended include the Transvideo Starlight, Blackmagic Video Assist 5-inch (offers proxy recording), and SmallHD 503 UltraBright (production ended; used units recommended).
Depends on
- Monitor mounting trade-off between adjustability and low-mode profile.
- Volt Brain-mounted solutions risk performance degradation from added mass and vibration.
