Recovery mode function on PAG battery chargers

21 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • Recovery mode is designed to revive over-discharged batteries that the charger would otherwise reject as faulty.
  • The recovery program runs for approximately one hour before the charger automatically switches to normal fast-charge mode.
  • Batteries that remain faulty after recovery mode treatment will still be rejected when fast-charge mode begins.
  • Recovery mode allows severely over-discharged batteries to receive an initial slow charge before attempting normal charging cycles.

Depends on

  • Information extracted from PAG MC-124 charger manual, specific to that model.
  • No guidance provided on frequency of recovery mode use.
  • Severely damaged batteries may not respond to recovery treatment regardless of the program used.
