2004Off Topic forum
Uploading and embedding images in forum posts and replies
22 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Images can be uploaded directly when creating a new topic, but this upload option may not be available in all forum sections
- Images hosted on external webspace can be embedded in posts using img tags with the format [img=http://www.mysite.com/picture.jpg], including the http:// protocol
- File attachment options for replies depend on which forum section is being used, with some sections like Newbies having restrictions on attachments
- Edit icons for modifying posts are present but may not be immediately visible without scrolling
- External image hosting services can be used as an alternative to forum storage to preserve server space
Depends on
- The discussion references a specific forum's interface from 2004, so current functionality may differ
- Some claims about which sections allow attachments were based on limited user testing rather than comprehensive documentation
- External hosting solutions mentioned were not fully tested or verified during the discussion
