Fitting a large Steadicam® Flyer LE Thermodyne case into a standard car's boot: sedan, compact car, or minivan?

What the thread found
- The Thermodyne case for Steadicam® Flyer LE has unusual dimensions and does not fit most sedan boots; for example, in a Honda Civic it only fits on the rear seat, and in a Toyota Prius it does not fit at all.
- Compact cars with flat-folding rear seats can hold surprisingly much cargo: a Honda Fit accommodated a Steadicam® case, a second luggage case, a Pelican 1500 case, a C-stand, and two sandbags when fully loaded.
- A Kia Soul can fit multiple Pelican cases, tripods, and C-stands.
- A station wagon can accommodate a Steadicam® PRO kit with four flight cases plus a stand and sandbag.
- Equipment collection grows over time with cart, wireless links with large antennas and other accessories, prompting many operators to favour a minivan or station wagon.
- An alternative approach is to distribute equipment among several smaller Pelican cases, since the height of the large Thermodyne case is the limiting factor.
Depends on
- Choice between compact car and minivan depends on current equipment volume and anticipated growth of the rig.
