Differences between Archer 2 Steadicam sled models and motorized stage utility

15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • All current Archer 2 systems come equipped with the G-50 arm
  • The Archer 2 has a manual stage, while the Archer 2S features motorized fore and aft adjustment and the Archer 2SE adds motorized side-to-side adjustment plus includes a leather vest and batteries with charger
  • A motorized stage allows convenient balance trimming during shooting using memory buttons and remote control without needing to adjust drop time
  • The motorized stage is not essential for operation as manual drop time adjustment achieves the same practical result
  • Motorized stage functionality can be added later as an upgrade, allowing operators to initially allocate budget toward monitor or other components

Depends on

  • This information reflects the product lineup as of 2011
  • The motorized stage adds significant cost and is optional depending on shooting requirements
  • One user shared personal experience with motorized stage use but this represents individual preference rather than universal necessity
