Receiving dual monitor feeds on a portable live television camera rig
18 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- An RF transmitter can send a program feed to an RF receiver mounted on the rig, allowing a second monitor to display the return feed without rewiring the sled infrastructure.
- BNC connectors can be installed at the top and bottom of a vertical post with thin coaxial cable running between them, enabling a second monitor to receive a program feed from the camera's prompter output while avoiding continuous power draw from wireless equipment.
- The wired BNC approach requires a triax camera system setup to function properly.
- RF receiver approach works with RF camera systems where rewiring is impractical.
Depends on
- The BNC connector installation method is specific to triax-based camera systems and does not apply to RF camera setups.
- The RF transmitter method draws continuous power during use, which some operators prefer to avoid.
- The RF approach requires a receiver unit and wireless equipment to function.
- Discussion from 2008 may reflect outdated equipment models and current technology options not represented.
