Air travel restrictions for Dionic battery models

15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • Up to three Dionic HCX batteries can be carried on an aircraft, consisting of two loose units and one installed on equipment
  • Only one Dionic HCX battery can be checked as baggage, and it must be attached to a piece of equipment
  • Dionic 90 and Dionic HC batteries have no carry-on quantity limit but only one can be checked, and it must be attached to equipment
  • Dionic 160 batteries are prohibited from air travel entirely
  • These air travel battery restrictions apply to North America
  • IATA guidelines for air travel batteries state the same general rules but allow individual airlines to impose stricter limits at their discretion

Depends on

  • Information is specific to North America; rules for Europe and international travel may differ
  • Individual airlines retain authority to further restrict battery carriage beyond IATA guidelines
  • The discussion predates current aviation regulations and may not reflect present-day rules
