15 mm rod compatibility on Tiffen M2 sled for low-mode monitor mounting
What the thread found
- The M2 top stage uses inch-standard threads (1/2-13), whereas most rod manufacturers supply metric threads (M12), causing many rods with internal threads to be incompatible.
- Tiffen M2–compatible 15 mm rods with 1/2-13 threads are supplied by Zacuto and Berkley Systems, with Berkley offering more length options.
- Tiffen manufactures matching rods directly but they are difficult to source online.
- Alignment problems attributed to rods may originate from the Tiffen monitor bracket itself not being perfectly square rather than from the rod.
- One operator reported that standard 15 mm rods fit the M1 model; checking the manufacturer's manual is advised before purchase.
Depends on
- Thread standard differs between Tiffen M2 and typical aftermarket rod suppliers.
- Alignment tolerance in the monitor bracket design.
