Upgrading monitor setup and video connections on a Master Elite sled

12 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • Internal video cabling was replaced while retaining the original power distribution in the sled post.
  • The monitor bracket was constructed using 15mm diameter rods with 8-inch length and internal threading.
  • A custom yoke was fabricated from the same rod material by drilling holes in the arm ends for mounting screws.
  • The monitor mounting holes were positioned at the center of gravity for the combined monitor and external recorder assembly to prevent balance changes when tilting the monitor.
  • Replacing the monitor hardware and connectors can be completed for under $350.
  • HD-SDI video lines and tally signals were routed up the sled post to replace external coaxial cabling.

Depends on

  • Upgrade was performed on a specific model (Master Elite) and may require adaptation for other sled designs.
  • The balance improvement and cost estimate are based on a single installation example.
  • No detailed specifications provided for the new I/O panel construction or video routing methods.
