A BlackBerry device running OS 5.0 would not display a working mobile version of the forum, showing the full web interface instead with a non-functional mobile selection button.
The mobile skin relies on JavaScript to automatically switch versions after selection, which may not function properly on older BlackBerry operating systems.
Updating a BlackBerry from OS 5.0 to OS 6 resolved the mobile site compatibility issue.

The problem was specific to BlackBerry OS 5.0 and may not apply to other devices or later operating system versions.
The exact cause of the incompatibility was not definitively identified, though JavaScript functionality or user agent string recognition were suspected.
Only one device model was tested in this thread.
