Mounting a monitor on gimbal handle instead of standard sled placement
What the thread found
- Attaching a monitor to the gimbal handle makes it difficult to visually assess shot steadiness because the monitor moves with the handle rather than remaining stable relative to the camera
- Monitor placement on the gimbal handle reduces visibility of ground and foot placement, creating safety concerns during operation
- A monitor mounted on the handle affects both static and dynamic balance of the gimbal system and changes pan inertia characteristics
- When a monitor is relocated from the bottom of the sled to the handle, counterbalance weights must be repositioned to maintain proper equilibrium
Depends on
- Experience limited to the Arri Trinity model; findings may not apply to other gimbal types
- Balance concerns may be mitigated if operators have appropriate counterbalance weights available
