The Sony F5 does not crop its sensor at lower resolutions like Red cameras do, instead it uses the full sensor area and oversamples to achieve lower resolution output.
The F5 and F55 required a firmware update scheduled for September to enable 2K shooting capability.
Super 16mm lenses cannot be used effectively on the Sony F5 because the camera does not support the sensor cropping approach needed for such smaller image circles.
