What the thread found
- Multiple manufacturers offer brackets for the Preston MDR-3, including Preston themselves, PRO, and Optical Support
- Optical Support produces a bracket with additional functionality that integrates with Element Technica V-dock systems and includes a threaded lug for articulating arms
- Some third-party brackets mount the MDR-3 inverted due to single-sided mounting hole patterns
- The Preston-supplied bracket mounts the MDR-3 right-side up
- V-mount shoe systems provide flexibility for repositioning the MDR-3 across multiple camera locations including steadicam sleds and studio setups
- Element Technica V-mount hardware allows the MDR-3 to remain permanently mounted while being repositioned between different rig configurations
- Merging a V-mount system with existing sled-mounted focus control units requires fabricating a mating plate adapted to the sled's infrastructure
Depends on
- Information is from 2014 and may not reflect current product availability
- One user's experience with PRO brackets mounting the unit inverted may not apply to current production versions
- The discussion does not establish which bracket options are currently available or still in production
- V-mount integration appears to require custom fabrication work rather than ready-made solutions
