Hard mounting options for SK video camera
19 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Soft mounting by wearing the rig on your body while riding the intended vehicle can be an alternative to hard mounting when no direct hard mount exists.
- Tiffen manufactures a retroactive mount system that adapts the distinctive SK arm to use the standard socket block configuration found in master series equipment.
- A custom mounting solution can be fabricated by having a machinist create an aluminum block sized to fit the SK arm hole and drill perpendicular holes to accommodate U-clamps that connect to speed rail or similar support structures.
Depends on
- The SK camera arm connection is described as having limited mounting options and few commercially available hard mount solutions exist.
- The effectiveness and practicality of the custom machining approach depends on access to appropriate machining services and speed rail infrastructure.
- The tiffen retrofit product compatibility with SK equipment was not confirmed with certainty in the discussion.
