According to operator experience, the Starlite HD auto-record function triggers automatically with ARRI cameras but not with RED or Sony cameras.
Behaviour varies between units: one Starlite HD5 ARRI version starts recording on power plus SDI signal alone, while another unit with current firmware does not trigger auto-record at all.
Some operators have switched to affordable bright Shimbol monitors as an alternative, which work with both RED and ARRI camera systems for recording.

Auto-record reliability with ARRI cameras appears inconsistent between individual Starlite HD5 units despite firmware updates.
Auto-record function may depend on camera system compatibility, firmware version, and specific hardware revision of the monitor.
