Removing a gimbal from a stabilizer sled without cutting cables
What the thread found
- When cables run as a continuous bundle through the center post without break points, the gimbal can sometimes be removed by disconnecting the small connectors at the lower end and feeding them through the post hole rather than cutting cables.
- Adding quick-disconnect Lemo connectors at a junction box in the lower section allows future gimbal removal without requiring cable cutting or splicing.
Depends on
- The method of threading connectors through the post hole depends on connector size being small enough for the specific post diameter.
- The EFP gimbal and MKV post combination is the documented setup; applicability to other rigs is unclear.
