Steadicam training workshops in the United States
20 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Structured steadicam workshops provide instruction that can accelerate skill development by roughly two years compared to self-teaching
- Workshop instructors can correct fundamental technique errors that operators may have developed independently
- Timing a workshop close to when one has access to a steadicam rig for practice improves knowledge retention
- Workshop participants from different geographic regions report the experience to be worth the cost of travel and tuition
Depends on
- The specific workshop quality and teaching methods vary between different programs
- One recommendation references a Philadelphia-based program but broader comparison data between U.S. workshop options is limited in this discussion
