Centering gimbal on an Ultra 2 stabilizer
What the thread found
- Start with the sled aimed at the handle and balance it vertically front-to-back and side-to-side
- Rotate the sled 90 degrees so the front-to-back direction aligns with the fork ends without changing the sled balance
- If the sled is now tilted, use the adjustment tool to shift the entire sled uphill (in the direction opposite to the tilt) to restore vertical hanging
- When adjusting the bearing screws on each side, turn both by the same number of quarter-turns to maintain equal spacing while moving the center of gravity
- Longer drop times during testing produce more accurate adjustments, with 4+ seconds recommended
- The bearing must be moved in only one direction; tightening in both directions risks damaging the gimbal
- One user experienced significant post tilt (approximately 45 degrees) when panning the sled through 90 degrees, suggesting centering difficulties
Depends on
- The discussion references an attached PDF document that provides specific instructions but the full content is not included here
- One participant could not detect movement or balance changes when turning the adjustment caps and questioned whether internal screws allow larger adjustments
- The meaning of moving the bearing 'uphill' was unclear to one participant
- A participant posted about experiencing severe tilt (45 degrees) during panning but did not provide follow-up information about resolution
