Volt 3 presets and motor behavior in practice; compatibility with M2 and upgrade decisions from PRO or M1 sleds.

What the thread found
- The Volt 3 scene/preset function is widely appreciated; operators typically use two active presets (start and end configurations) and reassign the third situationally for special requirements such as super post settings.
- The pan motor aids performance during straight travels but becomes hindering during circular moves and fine pans; operators switch between presets or disable the motor, which increases pan friction compared to the Volt 3's predecessor.
- Volt 3 accepts only the M2 Top Stage; one operator subsequently migrated to the M2 foot and reduced weight by selecting the complete M2 with three-section 1.75-inch post.
- Many PRO and M1 sled operators request a control box for third-party sleds; an external box exists for disassembled two-axis Volt modules (M2 converter available as backup), but not for the integrated Volt 3.
- PRO sleds offer an alternative upgrade path with a new battery rack providing native 26-volt support, which can offset the cost of new plates and cables during low-work periods.
Depends on
- Volt 3 integration is limited to M2 Top Stage and geometry.
- Upgrade economics depend on existing equipment (PRO, M1, or no prior sled), work volume, and cable/plate inventory.
- Motor behavior depends on scene selection and task type (straight travel versus turning or panning).
