Choosing between 6" and 8" Transvideo Cinemonitor X-SBL Evolution monitors
What the thread found
- The 8" model weighs more than the 6" version and may cause vibrations on lightweight rigs unless mounted with a solid support bracket.
- The 6" version is preferred by a majority of operators, roughly at a 10 to 1 ratio compared to the 8" model.
- The 8" model produces 1500 nits of brightness while the 6" produces 2000 nits, with the 8" having a full bright mode that maintains decent image quality with moderate blue cast.
- Setting the INPUT PROFILE menu function to LINEAR mode increases brightness for outdoor or night shooting scenarios.
- The 6" model is more suitable for smaller camera rigs due to weight considerations.
Depends on
- Brightness specifications and performance characteristics apply specifically to the Cinemonitor X-SBL Evolution model.
- The weight-induced vibration issue was observed with a Churchill bracket but resolved by switching to a solid Transvideo mount.
- The full bright mode on the 8" model is not recommended for accurate color assessment or lighting decisions.
