Compatibility of Globalmediapro batteries with third-party V-mount chargers
12 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Globalmediapro batteries can be charged with chargers from other V-mount manufacturers such as IDX and other brands, though the manufacturer recommends using their own charger for optimal results.
- Using a non-Globalmediapro charger may prevent simultaneous charging of multiple batteries and may prevent full communication of battery intelligence data, but basic charging still functions correctly.
- When an intelligent charger does not recognize battery information, it defaults to standard charging mode, which is safe and functional.
- The IDX VL-4S charger has been confirmed to work properly with Globalmediapro 190Wh batteries.
- Most standard V-mount battery brands are cross-compatible with each other's chargers except for certain red-brand batteries.
Depends on
- The manufacturer stated that non-standard chargers may reduce battery lifespan, though this was not independently verified in the discussion.
- Multiple users reported successful use, but long-term effects on battery durability were not documented.
- The discussion is from 2014 and may not reflect current product specifications.
- Individual experiences may vary depending on specific charger and battery model combinations.
