Mounting a Cinetronic monitor on Tiffen Clipper monitor rods

14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • The Cinetronic monitor uses a standard spud connector that is incompatible with Tiffen Clipper rod mounts.
  • Third-party monitor mount manufacturers including XCS, PRO, and Transvideo produce universal or specific rod-mounted brackets that accept the standard spud on Cinetronic monitors.
  • XCS offers a completely universal mount that can be configured for different post diameters.
  • Transvideo produces rod-mounted brackets and also offers solutions with 1/4-20 screw connections.
  • If no commercial mount fits the Clipper's specific post diameter, creating a custom adapter sleeve to bring the post to a compatible diameter is simpler than fabricating an entire bracket.
  • A custom-fabricated mounting bar compatible with the Cinetronic yoke can be produced to work with existing Clipper bracket hardware.

Depends on

  • The Clipper 312 model has a lower post diameter that some manufacturers do not accommodate.
  • Transvideo's Master Series brackets may not be compatible with all monitor rig models.
  • No definitive verification that all mentioned third-party solutions work with the Clipper specifically.
  • Cost of custom fabrication varied by approach and machine shop.
