Mounting an external professional monitor to an Archer HD camera using adapters and custom cabling
15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- A Marshall V-LCD70XP-3GSDI 7-inch monitor can be mounted to an Archer camera by obtaining mounting bracket accessory part V-LCD70TMB-02 that provides 1/4 inch threads
- Gaps between the Marshall monitor and the Archer mount bracket can be filled using plastic spacers, with 1/4 inch bolts securing the assembly
- A D-tap power socket can be added to the V-mount plate by soldering, allowing monitor power to come from the V-mount battery instead of the stock Lemo connector
- HD video must be routed through the HD video Lemo connector on the camera to the monitor's three BNC inputs
- A Hoodman H700 sunshade can fit the Marshall monitor with minor trimming
- This modification cost approximately £135 total including a custom HD-SDI cable
Depends on
- The Marshall monitor has lower brightness at 400 nits compared to the stock 700 nit monitor, limiting it primarily to indoor use
- The modification requires soldering knowledge for V-mount plate modification
- Switching between the custom monitor and stock monitor requires reconnecting the multipin Lemo connector
