Removing internal cables from center posts when upgrading from Pro1 to Pro2 model

DisputedParticipants disagreed and reached no conclusion. Read the findings as positions, not as an answer.

What the thread found

  • Pro2 center posts with radial screws around the top and bottom can have their threaded connector ends removed by unscrewing those radial fasteners and using snap ring pliers to remove the internal retaining ring, allowing the cable to slide through without disconnecting the LEMO connectors
  • Pro1 center posts with studs instead of radial screws do not disassemble using the same method and may not come apart at all through normal means
  • Pressed-in studs on older post models can potentially be removed using a drill press to destroy the pin from inside, or by pressing them out with proper support to protect the threaded receiver sections

Depends on

  • The method applies specifically to posts with threaded connectors and LEMO connectors on both sides
  • Pro1 posts with studs have no confirmed working disassembly method in this discussion
  • Drilling or pressing out studs risks damaging the post or thread receivers if not done carefully
  • The drilling approach requires a drill press and has only been suggested, not confirmed as successful
