Backlit spirit level fixture for monitor mounting in low-light filming conditions
What the thread found
- A spirit level can be mounted to a monitor using a 1/4-20 screw mount hole to help operators verify horizon alignment during dark scenes where standard levels become invisible
- LED backlighting with neutral density and diffusion filters allows the level to remain visible in low-light conditions while being dim enough to avoid reflections in shot framing
- The fixture can be angled toward the operator and shielded to prevent the light source from appearing in camera reflections even when filming at close distances
- Power can be drawn from an AB mount connector on the back of the monitor using a P-tap connection
Depends on
- The design discussed was made for a specific monitor model (DP7-HB) with a 1/4-20 mount hole, limiting direct compatibility with other displays
- User feedback suggested adding a power switch or detachable power cable for convenience in later versions
