Lowering camera position on ARRI Trinity: post extensions vs. low-mode brackets and gimbal reach limits.
What the thread found
- Installing both post extensions (approximately 10 minutes) instead of a low-mode bracket allows the camera to scrape near floor level, constrained only by the post length on the battery side, which occasionally contacts door frames or people.
- A single post extension combined with additional counterweight on the battery side—such as brass-weighted battery plates—helps in tight spaces where two extensions are impractical.
- The ARRI Superpost achieves low positioning faster than mounting two extensions.
- When the rig is fully extended for low mode, the gimbal approaches its operational limit and a 5-inch monitor becomes too distant for the operator to view clearly.
- The Flowcine Low Mode Link, while functional, feels restrictive to some operators compared to post extension methods.
Depends on
- Effectiveness depends on door frame height and surrounding obstacles.
- Monitor viewing distance becomes critical at full extension.
- Gimbal servo performance may degrade at maximum reach.
