Motorized side-to-side stage adjustment on an Ultra 2 rig malfunctioning or unresponsive
What the thread found
- The center switch on the nosebox can be reprogrammed by holding it in the C position for a few seconds until the nosebox light blinks, which allows you to set the stage center position manually.
- If a motorized stage knob turns but produces no movement, check that the knob is properly engaging the shaft by prying off the cover to inspect and tighten the nut underneath.
- Manual stage adjustment without power is possible and can serve as a troubleshooting step to verify mechanical function before relying on motorized control.
- When motors are engaged and you turn the knob manually, you should feel resistance and hear a whirring sound; if the knob turns easily with no resistance or sound, the knob coupling may be loose.
- A stage that moves only in one direction may have a programmed center position offset to that side, preventing movement in the opposite direction until the center is reprogrammed.
Depends on
- The remote control was not present with this rig, so some programming features could not be accessed through standard remote methods.
- The original problem was not fully diagnosed or resolved in the thread; the user worked around it by using manual adjustment instead.
- Specific details about what was actually found when checking the knob engagement were never reported back.
